While last week it was reported that Irrfan Khan’s award-winning film Hindi Medium will be returning with its sequel and will go on floors in August this year, now there is another update on the story.

As per reports in Mumbai Mirror, the makers are keen to have Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan in the film. Buzz is that the young actress might be approached to play Irrfan Khan’s daughter in the film’s sequel.

The film will go on floors in August and Irrfan will be seen playing the same Delhi based businessman, Raj Batra, who aspired to give his daughter the best education and also a hands-on husband who wished to fulfil all his wife’s dreams in part 1. Going by latest reports in the tabloid, Sara who is making her film debut with Kedarnath could play the role of teenage Pia in Hindi Medium 2. As per what the sources tell Mirror, the makers are really keen to have Sara on board. While there are bright chances that things might materialize on this front as Saif Ali Khan has been Dinesh Vijan’s former business partner and the two have collaborated on various films. A source has told Mirror that, “Sara is one of the top contenders to play the daughter.” While the report also stated that Pakistani actress Saba Qamar who made her debut with Hindi Medium is not likely to return for the sequel and the film will also have a new director. The original was directed by Saket Chaudhary.

A source had also told mirror in an earlier report that, “The story flash-forwards by a decade so five-year-old Pia will be in her teens now, around 15-16 years. The story will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original.” When producer Dinesh Vijan was contacted by Mirror to find out if Sara will be a part of the film, he said, “I have just finished the script and I am going to get into the casting now.”
