Republic Day will see the release of Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Aiyaary’, a film, Sidharth Malhotra, who essays the role of the protege, has donned the army uniform for the first time. At the trailer launch of the film, which will release on January 26, 2018, he said, “My dad was happy to see me in uniform. Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpai, who plays Sidharth’s mentor in the film, was full of praise for his co-actor and added, “He is willing to observe and learn and didn’t shy away from asking questions. I enjoyed working with someone who is from a different world of cinema.”
Known for his thrillers and espionage dramas like ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby’ and ‘Naam Shabana’, Neeraj when quizzed if ‘Aiyaary’ was on the same lines as his directorial debut, A Wednesday, admitted, “Yes, it is closest to ‘A Wednesday.”
His frequent collaborator, Akshay Kumar will also be releasing his film ‘Padman’ on the same day as ‘Aiyaary’. When asked about the clash and if there was any animosity, the director put all conjectures to rest by saying, “Akshay, Sidharth, Balki and I had lunch together.” Sidharth also added, “It’s a national holiday and the film that’s also releasing is that of a friend.”
‘Aiyaary’ also stars Pooja Chopra (Miss India 2009), Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah and Adil Hussain among others.
