Shraddha Kapoor has been finalised to be a part of ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ where Shahid Kapoor is playing the male lead. A recent report stated that Shraddha was approached by the makers of the film and she is yet to sign the deal.
However, now producer Prernaa Arora has confirmed the news of Shraddha coming on board with ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. Confirming Shraddha’s entry on the project, producer Prernaa Arora told the tabloid, “Shraddha was keen to come on-board because it is a career-defining role. The film is a love story at its core set in a small town. It is also socially relevant as it highlights the issues of electricity shortage that the common man faces.”
She further added, “Instances have been reported where even after not being at home for a better part of the month, families return to huge electricity bills. The film investigates such issues with a sarcastic undertone.”
Since this film will have two female leads, the makers are keen to cast A-list actresses for the respective roles. Now that Shraddha has signed on the dotted lines, the second leading lady is yet to be finalised. It was earlier speculated that Ileana D’Cruz has been approached for the role, but no confirmation on the same has been received yet.
While earlier reports suggested that Shraddha will be essaying the role of a lawyer, a recent report in tabloid stated that Shraddha will be seen playing the role of a North Indian girl ‘whose life serves as the catalyst for the story.
