Comilla Victorians set their place in the Bangladesh Premier League playoffs in stone with a four-wicket win over Rangpur Riders at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

Chasing a low total of 98 runs, Comilla had to bat 19.3 overs to overcome the target.

Comilla captain Tamim Iqbal scored the highest 22 for his team while Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik made 20. The West Indies’ Marlon Samuels was unbeaten at the end, scoring 16 off 18 balls, and hit the winning boundary in the third delivery of the 20th over.

Rangpur struggled throughout their innings, losing regular wickets, and were eventually bowled out for only 97 in 17.1 overs.

New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum scored 24 for the Riders but the Kiwi power-hitter struggled at the middle, facing 31 balls in his innings.
