Jacqueline Fernandez was last seen on the big screen opposite superstar Salman Khan in the 2018 action thriller film Race 3. The actress is currently gearing up for her upcoming film Drive alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and has been busy taking acting classes in Los Angeles, as she wants to do different work and be experimental. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Jacqueline Fernandez is being considered to play Smita Patil’s role in the remake of 1982 film Arth.

Mahesh Bhatt directorial Arth is a semi-autobiographical film written by Bhatt about his extramarital relationship with Parveen Babi. The movie stars Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Raj Kiran and Rohini Hattangadi in lead roles and was applauded for the story line and strong performances. The story revolves around Inder, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda, who leaves his wife Pooja, played by Shabana Azmi, to be in a relationship with successful actress Kavita, played by Smita Patil. It leads Pooja to embark on a journey to find her true identity while Kavita, who feels guilty and insecure, breaks up with Inder.

The remake of Arth will be directed by South star Revathi and according to reports, Jacqueline has been approached to play the role of Kavita, the glamourous actress, played by Smita Patil in the original film. Apparently, Jacqueline really liked the role and the script and is excited to be a part of the remake of a path-breaking film.
