Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor are back in India! The couple landed in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. Rishi Kapoor flew to New York almost a year ago in order to undergo treatment for his cancer and the 67-year-old is now officially cancer-free! The two were spotted at the airport, all smiles and glad to be back home. Rishi even took to Twitter to share the joy of his homecoming, exactly 11 months and 11 days later.
Last year, Neetu Kapoor shared that the family was quite shaken when they got to know of Rishi Kapoor’s health. In an interview with a newspaper, Neetu spoke about their son, actor Ranbir Kapoor, who was travelling when they got to know about Rishi’s cancer. When they broke the news to him, he immediately rushed home and flew his father to New York to begin his treatment. But sadly, had to return to India for his Bollywood commitments. Since then, Ranbir and his sister, Riddhima Kapoor, have been constantly shuttling back and forth from New York to India.
However, Rishi Kapoor himself has been quite positive about his entire journey. He told a newspaper that his time at the hospital has actually made him quite patient, “These past few months taught me patience. I never had that before. God has taught me that patience is the mother of all virtues. You must be patient in life. My wife and friends keep telling me that I was a very impatient person all the time… my work style, way of life. But right now, the fact remains that you have to be patient and let things take its own course. I have been going through this ordeal of being a patient, and it’s interesting how (the word patient) taught me patience.”
