Tiger Shroff will be seen in the Hindi remake of the 1982 classic film Rambo. The original Hollywood film starred Sylvester Stallone in the leading role.

About two years ago at the 70th Cannes International Film Festival, filmmaker Sidharth Anand announced the remake of Hollywood cult classic Rambo (1982), which had starred Sylvester Stallone in the leading role.

The latest update says that the Hindi adaptation, which will see Tiger Shroff stepping into the shoes of Stallone, will hit the screens next year. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, director Sidharth announced that the film will go on floors in January 2020 and will be released on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2020).

The director who is working on another untitled film starring Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan said, “After I complete my current film with Tiger and Hrithik Roshan, I will start prepping for Rambo from September. Tiger will begin his preparation from November-December and we will set the ball rolling in the new year. We will be shooting both in India and abroad.”

“The recce will begin soon. We have already locked a release date, October 2, 2020,” Sidharth confirmed.

For the unversed, Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo was set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and told the story of John Rambo, a troubled war veteran.

Earlier in 2017, director of Tiger Shroff’s Rambo revealed the reason for the delay of his remake.

“India doesn’t have that history (the Vietnam War), so obviously there had to be a major adaptation in the sense of character, story and setting. That’s why the project has taken two years. We have taken the mythology of Rambo forward and that’s what we are playing on… More than remaking it,” Sidharth told IANS.

In 2017, the original Rambo, Stallone, took to Instagram to wish Tiger Shroff all the best for the remake. He wrote, “I actually get excited in my heart whenever young artists get an rare opportunity to reach for the stars! Eye of the Tiger! I am sure he will put his heart and soul into it.”

Later, Tiger had re-posted Stallone’s wish on his Instagram handle. “Because you were there, we sort of exist, We are all just derivatives of you sir! There will always and only be ONE “eye of the tiger” for us cubs. You rule the jungle! Thank you so much sir! #RAMBO #RamboRemake.” the actor wrote.

On the work front, Tiger Shroff was recently seen in Punit Malhotra’s Student Of The Year 2. Tiger was paired opposite debutantes Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria. The film released on May 10.
