Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans woke up to terrible news on July 9, when they found out their beloved Dr Hathi, played by Kavi Kumar Azad had passed away, after a cardiac arrest. Azad had already suffered a close shave, eight years ago. He had collapsed on the sets of his show. According to a SpotBoyE report, Salman paid for the hospital treatment as well as the bariatric surgery back then. He also paid for the actor's hospital's room and medicines. Salman worked closely with the doctor, who attended to Azad, and often pays the medical bills of those in need. Salman and Azad had also met a few months ago. Apparently Azad had refused a second surgery, despite the doctor's advice, as he felt that his career depended on him losing weight. On the work front, Salman is working on Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat, which will hit the screens next year.
