It is quite a known fact that Vivo is prepping for the launch of its first phone with an in-screen fingerprint reader. Now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has revealed that the smartphone will be debuting at CES 2018 exhibition tomorrow. There’s no doubt that this device will use a Synaptics fingerprint reader, which the company had announced a few weeks ago. However, last year, Vivo had introduced a similar smartphone prototype with an in-screen fingerprint reader in collaboration with Qualcomm, but the smartphone never made it to the market. However, the company seems more serious this time. Speaking more about the in-screen fingerprint reader by Synaptics, it is named as ID FS 9500, and it can work with wet, dry or cold fingers. Apart from this, Synaptics also claims that this new technology is on par or even faster than the 3D face recognition technologies such as the one used in the Apple iPhone X. Additionally, Synaptics also claims that it has partnered with a “top five OEM” for introducing smartphones with its in-screen fingerprint reader technology. Moving on with the details of the smartphone from Vivo (BK1124), it had already received the 3C certification in China a few days ago, which also revealed that the phone will support some kind of fast charging technology. The device is expected to be a beefed-up variant of the existing Vivo X20 Plus smartphone and has similar specifications. It is expected to retain the 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4GB or 6GB RAM, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based FunTouch OS. The device is expected to offer a camera setup that’s similar to the X20 Plus, featuring a 24-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor at its rear.
