For a while, it looked like Sara Ali Khan's dream debut had turned into a nightmare. Her maiden film, Kedarnath, was caught up in a swirling vortex of controversy after the ugly spat between director Abhishek Kapoor and producer Prernaa Arora. It snowballed into a legal fight, with Prernaa dragging Abhishek to court for his unprofessionalism and disorganised handling of Kedarnath, while the filmmaker alleged financial interferences and lack of transparency. Meanwhile, Sara bagged Rohit Shetty's Simmba opposite Ranveer Singh, which is being co-produced by Karan Johar. Fans, who were eagerly awaiting Sara's debut, heaved a sigh of relief, even as Kedarnath was stuck in limbo. Eventually, it was Ronnie Screwvala who brought Kedarnath out of its misery and took over as the sole producer of the film after compensating former producers Bhushan Kumar, Prernaa Arora and Ekta Kapoor. Talking about the entire controversy, Sara's father, Saif Ali Khan, said that he was quite distressed by the situation. He told Hindustan Times, "I've been keeping track of it and, of course, it bothered me because I wanted things to go smoothly with her." Saif revealed that he took charge of the situation when things looked difficult. "I'm very happy that she now has a good film with Karan Johar. I was quite involved with her getting on board with Karan but after that, I can afford again to take a backseat. I'm here if she needs me," he said. After several hiccups, Kedarnath is set to hit the screens on November 30 this year.
