Apne Producer Deepak Mukut Upset with Anil Sharma Over Claim That Apne 2 Has Been Cancelled: ‘He Is Not Authorized to Make Such a Statement

Deepak Mukut, producer of Apne, has expressed strong displeasure with director Anil Sharma for stating that Apne 2 has been called off following the passing of veteran actor Dharmendra.

According to Mukut, the film is very much alive and will move forward as a tribute to the legendary star.
“On the contrary, Apne must be made now more than ever. We had been working on the project with Dharam ji. Sunny (Deol) and I will now develop Apne as a homage to him. His presence will continue to guide the project in spirit,” Mukut affirmed.

He added that Apne 2 will also feature Karan Deol, continuing the family legacy established in the first film, which starred Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol. “I will sit down with Sunny as soon as the mourning period concludes,” he said.

Mukut expressed surprise and irritation over Sharma’s comments about the film being cancelled.
“He is not authorized to make such a rash statement. I don’t understand why he said this. He now denies it, but how could he be quoted on such a sensitive matter if he didn’t say it? It is not Anil Sharma’s decision to continue or halt the project. That decision lies with Sunny and me—and we are moving ahead full throttle. We owe this to Dharam ji and to his fans around the world.”
