Wonder Woman 84 is set to bring Chris Pine back to the bay. Patty Jenkins recently revealed the reason behind including the actor to the Gal Gadot starrer.

It was just a few days ago that DCEU fans got a glimpse at the golden girl Wonder Woman from Wonder Woman 83. The Gal Gadot superhero movie is the sequel to the hit 2017 release, Wonder Woman. While not much is known about the Patty Jenkins directorial, the makers left many eyebrows raised when it was announced that Chris Pine has been added to the cast of the DC film. The announcement came as a shock given that his character dies in a crash in Wonder Woman. For those who don’t remember, Steve Trevor takes off with an aircraft filled with explosives and goes down with it.

The actor was spotted on the sets of the Wonder Woman sequel when the filming began. He looked in an all-new avatar when he stepped out in Washington DC with Gadot by his side. Director Jenkins recently addressed Pine’s inclusion to Wonder Woman 84 and explained her real reason behind adding Pine to the cast.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, she said, “I’ve had it happen with several actors where you really get up to speed and you know that person, so you see this incredible skill that they’re of. So you can spin them this way, and that’s fun. You can spin them that way. Chris and I definitely have that. I also think that he has a bunch of dimensions of him that I haven’t quite seen him get to explore. Now, at this point, I’m feeling like I just want to keep working with so many of the same actors because it is so fun.”

Pine’s role in the movie is still a mystery. While fans are speculating that he will don a new character while reminding Gadot of Steve, others feel there would be flashbacks. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out how Jenkins has treated Pine’s role in the movie.

Until then, here’s a look at the first poster of Wonder Woman 84.
