We have come across many discussion sessions and debates on the slogan ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’ that was first enchanted during the Aurat March. Since then, every year on Women’s Day, Aurat March is carried out and this slogan is chanted even more soundly than the first time. The reason behind it is that it was the most criticized slogan and gave rise to a new debate that seems to be never-ending now. The male community criticized it the most considering it vulgar and going against the Islamic laws sort of a slogan.
However, the participants of the Aurat March didn’t step back from it. Rather they gave it more hype that it even made way to the discussions on mainstream media. Well… some of the people have the view that ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’ is a misinterpreted slogan from Aurat March. The super stunning actress Mahira Khan also thinks this way and has explained the real meaning.
While speaking to Mira Sethi on her talk show, the Raees actress explained the misunderstood slogan that caused a furore all across the country last year. This outrageous response gained strength with the courtesy of the infamous writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
The Humsafar star explained the reason and significance behind her choice to march every year alongside other women to demand basic human rights.
“It’s important for me to march every year because my voice has weight. When I go to the Aurat March, I make it a point to tell everyone that this is what I believe in. It does not benefit me but it is important for the woman here, So I will represent them.” said Mahira.
