Just when we thought Indian Television could not go beyond shows like Bigg Boss and Sasural Simar Ka, which come loaded with seemingly scripted fights and cringe-worthy melodrama, Shah Rukh Khan came in to as a breath of fresh air with TED Talks: Nayi Soch. This season has seen some of the most influential and inspirational personalities from different walks of life share tales of their lives, hardships and struggles. It’s a unique concept for India, but something that deserves both attention and applause.

The highlight of the first season was seeing Shah Rukh Khan take a back seat and allowing his motivational speakers to take the centre-stage. For all those who felt that King Khan called off his gig as a TV host to soon, well, here’s some good news for you. Wondering what is that? Reportedly, the Swades star has been retained to host the show for three additional seasons and the news was confirmed by the makers themselves on their Twitter timeline.

About the show, Shah Rukh earlier said, “People will share stories about changes in society, in life — whether it’s about the climate, dangerous diseases or to help empower women — and all of this will be integrated. There are some beautiful stories — both Indian and international — which the team is planning to get on one platform and do a nice mix of Hindi and English speakers. I feel it will be a niche show.”

On the work front, the King Khan of hearts is currently consumed by the hectic shoot schedules of Aanand L. Rai’s Zero, after which he will reportedly start filming the much-talked-about Rakesh Sharma’s biopic, Salute.
