Mouni Roy shuts Twitter user who alleged Reema Kagti harassed her on ‘Gold’ sets

Mouni Roy recently found herself in a tight spot when a Twitter user claimed that filmmaker Reema Kagti harassed the ‘Naagin’ actress on ‘Gold’ sets. It all started after Konkona Sen Sharma tweeted a list of women directors who pledged not to work with proven offenders.

The 11 female filmmakers in the list included: Alankrita Shrivastava, Gauri Shinde, Kiran Rao, Konkona Sen Sharma, Meghna Gulzar, Nandita Das, Nitya Mehra, Reema Kagti, Ruchi Narain, Shonali Bose and Zoya Akhtar.

A Twitter user called out Kagti’s name and tagged Mouni alleging that the Naagin actress was reportedly harassed on the sets of her maiden Bollywood film ‘Gold’ which starred Akshay Kumar in the lead role.

However, Mouni was quick to slam all the claims made by him. She wrote: “I was not harassed on the set of Gold by anyone. Director or otherwise. I wish this maligning would stop as it not only harassing me and Reema Kagti but also taking away from women that have truly been wronged. @konkonas @rachitmehrotra”

The MeToo movement kickstarted in Bollywood after actress Tanushree Dutta claimed in one of her recent interviews that Nana Patekar harassed her sexually in 2008 on the sets of her film ‘Horn OK Pleassss’ and also demanded to do an intimate dance step with her. She also named choreographer Ganesh Acharya, director Rakesh Sarang and producer Sami Siddiqui as accomplices in the harassment she faced.

After her shocking allegations, several Bollywood celebrities such as Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Farhan Akhtar, Sapna Pabbi, Kangana Ranaut have supported the actress.

Several other biggies such as Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl, Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor among others have been accused of sexual harassment by female co-workers.
