Who can forget the iconic romantic comedy, Jab We Met? It not only breathed some life into Shahid Kapoor’s ailing career but also consolidated his position in the industry as a fine actor. As for Imtiaz Ali, he went on to make some truly memorable films like Highway, Rockstar and Tamasha, although helmed the extremely underwhelming Jab Harry Met Sejal last year, which met with a tepid response both critically and commercially.
Well, now it has been confirmed that Shahid Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali are reuniting for another film and this time it’s not a travel-story, like most of Imtiaz Ali’s films are. And having launched three new actors so far, Ayesha Takia in Socha Na Tha (2005), Giselli Monteiro in Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar (2011), it’s being reported that he would be presenting another debutant opposite Kapoor.
On the work-front, Shahid Kapoor will be seen next in Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu, a satire on the electricity problems plaguing the nation. He’ll reunite with his Haider co-star Shraddha Kapoor and will also be seen with Yami Gautam. According to reports, he’ll be playing a lawyer in the film.
As for Imtiaz Ali, he’s fully focusing on his film with Shahid Kapoor.
All we can say is that hope Imtiaz Ali gives us yet another glimpse of his genius and meticulous understanding of romantic relationships.
