Karan Johar in legal trouble!

The talent hunt reality show ‘India’s Next Superstar’ has Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty as judges to choose the best of talent from the country. While the show which started airing few days back has drawn attention from all those who want to showcase their talent on national television, there is bad news for Karan Johar and his production house Dharma Productions who have been sent a legal notice by the Health Department in Delhi.
This was due to a pan masala advertisement that went on air during the show which lead to the notice being served. The production house has been given 10 days to respond to the health department and if they don’t respond in the stipulated period of time a legal case might be initiated too. Along with a notice to Karan Johar’s Dharma Production, the distributors, judges and owners of a private TV network too have been issued a showcause notice for promoting Tobacco in a reality show.
Since this promotion of tobacco brand is a violation and as it is a surrogate advertisement of a tobacco product for which they were likely to be punished.
Prior to this, Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment were issued notices on similar grounds when Akshaye Khanna’s character was shown smoking in a poster of their film ‘Ittefaq’.
