When Amitabh Bachchan said no to Rs 10 million by Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood biggies are well acquainted with for assisting their co-actors if and when they require any type of assistance.

We have also witnessed various instances of a celeb taking up a project just on behalf of his companionship or an actress keen to perform an item song to uphold healthy relations with the filmmaker or the actor or director.

We also kept in mind when Kareena Kapoor said no to take up her fees for her special song, Marjaani, in SRK’s Billu.

It was praiseworthy on Amitabh Bachchan’s part that he did his 10-minute character in King Khan Red Chillies Entertainment’s production venture, Paheli, which was also eventually selected as the country’s official entry to Oscars during the same year.

Remembering the 102 Not Out actor’s cute gesture, Shah Rukh, in his earlier interview, made a special revelation that how the renowned star said no to his cheque and why Big B will always be appreciative to him for this.

Reciting the similar event, he stated, “After finishing the shoot I wanted to pay Mr Bachchan (10 million rupees) for the work he had done and got my office to write him out a cheque. I don’t write cheques anymore because I end up signing them ‘With love from Shah Rukh’ (laughs). I also wrote him a letter on behalf of Red Chillies, my production house, thanking him for his support, but he said he would never take money for working with me. You see it’s not about the money but about the way he went about doing my film. He turned up for work happily at 6 o’clock every morning. He’s a really kind gentleman and the greatest star I have ever been in touch with.”

In the year 2005, there was fairly a debate when Shah Rukh Khan’s Paheli was chosen as the country’s authorized entry for the most coveted awards, Oscars.

The authorized list of flicks that were considered in 2005 comprised Mangal Pandey, Swades, Achuvante Anna (Malayalam), Sachein (Tamil), Page 3, Graham (Telugu), Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Black, Veer Zaara, Iqbal, Anniyan (Telugu), Uttarayan (Marathi), and Kadal (Tamil).

Amongst all the movies in contention, a lot of people anticipated that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s super hit film Black will be the top pick.
