The Baby Doll sensation, Kanika Kapoor, attended the 10th Anniversary celebration of the British Asian Trust in London. She happens to be the ambassador of the trust. Interestingly, Prince Charles invited Kanika to perform at the celebration hosted by him. She kept the audiences entertained with a live mix of Sufi and popular English songs. The music was curated by the well known British music producer, Naughty Boy. And it was an evening to remember according to the guests present there. With her performance at the 10th Anniversary celebration of the British Asian Trust in London, she is the first Indian artist to have performed at the Buckingham Palace.

“It was an honour to perform in the Buckingham Palace for the 10th Anniversary of British Asian Trust at a celebration hosted by Prince Charles last night. Also the fact that I am the first Indian to perform there was a special feeling altogether. I am looking forward to more such events in the near future.” – shared Kanika from the United Kingdom.

Kanika has been a part of Prince Charles’ earlier functions as well such as the Elephant Family Charity’s Travels To My Elephants hosted by the royal couple in London. Kanika is also known to be friends with the likes of Alberta Ferretti, Stefano Gabbana and many high profile socialites of the West.

Kanika settled in London post her marriage to a businessman. She always aspired to be a singer. Her music video Jugni Ji in 2012 made the right noises on the internet becoming a huge hit. In 2014 Ekta Kapoor called her to sing Baby Doll for her film, Ragini MMS 2.

Kanika gained all the applause for the song and soon became a hit. Since then there has been no looking back for the singer, a mother to three children. One who has always been a part of elite social circles, Kanika’s performance at the Buckingham doesn’t come as a surprise although it is a huge achievement no doubt. Ask her about her distinct voice and she attributes it to the experiences she has gone through in her life. Those have helped put all that soul in her rendition.

In an earlier interview to Filmfare, she had said, “It comes from my journey. I’ve been through a lot of traumaIt’s made me a mature person. It’s also made me a deeper person spiritually. That is what is different about me from other singers. I’m sure there are better vocalists than me but why is it that my song is touching you? Why is Yeh duniya pittal di touching you? Because it has come from my soul.”
