Mirza Ghalib’s one of the revered poets of India was born on December 27, 1797, in Delhi. Known as one of the greatest Urdu and Persian poet, the man’s love for words always transformed into magic on paper. On his 221st birth anniversary, people took to Twitter paying tributes to the man of words sharing his poems and couplets. He often used his pen-name Ghalib and Asad Ullah Khan in his poetic works. Most of his shayaris was on love, life and pain.

He started writing at the age of 11 and continued till very old age. He is considered of the most influential Urdu poet in modern India. Mirza Ghalib was the court poet of Bahadur Shah Zafar II and also credited with creating a different form of lyrical Urdu poetry. Ghalib passed away on February 15, 1869, in Delhi at the age of 73.
