Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 hit the small screens on 25th September. Whilst long-legged beauty Erica Fernandes roped in as Prerna to play Shweta Tiwari’s role, Partha Samthaan was witnessed as Anurag Basu, formerly donned by Cezzane Khan.
While the majority of the show’s novel cast got introduced, everyone is still eager to see the new Komolika, the iconic baddie of the small screen. Amidst such enthusiasm, Urvashi Dholakia, who turned out to be a household name back in the year 2001 with her character of Komolika, wished good luck to Hina Khan, who reportedly will be stepping in Urvashi’s shoes.
In an interview with media, Urvashi, who is still known as Komolika, stated she has full confidence that Hina Khan will perform the role well.
She said, “Ekta (Kapoor) put her trust in me 18 years ago, the same she is doing now on Hina. Ekta has an eye for detail. Ekta has an eye for performers. Like she extracted what she wanted from me, I am sure she will extract it from Hina too. The baton has been passed and I wish Hina good luck in all honesty.”
Hina Khan, after making buffs magnetized with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for a period of eight long years, went on trying her fortune in TV reality shows. She also took part in Khatron Ke Khiladi as well as Bigg Boss.
On being questioned about expected comparisons between the new and the old Komolika, Urvashi responded, “Comparisons will be there and you really can’t stop them from doing that, but people eventually catch on. And let’s take the case of millennials. They probably don’t even know me, it would relatively easy for them to relate to Hina.”
Urvashi also went down in the past and remembered how she bagged the character of TV’s well-known baddie.
“I was shooting in Balaji office for Souten Bane Saheli, and Ekta called me to her cabin on the first floor.
One look at me and she stated, ‘You are going to be the next symbol of India, Komolika.”
I asked her what is Komolika. She answered ‘that’s the name of your next character in a new show.”
After some time, she introduced me to her mom Shobha Kapoor, however, Shobhaji said no to me and stated: ‘Yeh! Yeh kaise kar payegi?'” added Urvashi.
