New actors will not get the fame we did: Krystle D’souza

Mumbai – Krystle D’souza has been acting for nine years and has played leading roles in four shows, including her current comedy one.

But her onscreen pairing with co-star Karan Tacker in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai still remains a hit with their fans. The couple was highly appreciated back when the show was on air for their chemistry and Krystle is amazed that her fans still talk about the show on social media.

The actor says, “Our fans keep Jeevika and Viren alive via various edits that they post on a regular basis. They have not let our characters – Jeevika and Viren – go. It’s been six years since the show was on air, and our fans still love them. I think, back then, TV audiences were different from what we see today. Our show ran for two years but today, shows end in three to six months. The kind of popularity actors got in early 2000s, for example the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi cast, we never did. We entered the industry ten years after that, and the kind of popularity we saw 10 years ago, the new actors today won’t experience. We made a name for ourselves and maybe the next generation will never see that kind of fame. Oh God! I feel so old. (laughs).”

After the success of her fantasy drama show Brahmarakshas that ended in March last year, Krystle began shooting for her new comedy show and is glad to be back on screen.

Talking about the trend of finite shows, she says, “Shows such as Nagin and 24, among others, have had seasons and have been successful too. Today, producers are consciously deciding to make stories from start to finish and not stretching their plots just for the sake of good ratings. You can’t fool the audiences as today they have many options for entertainment including the digital medium. If they don’t like a show, they will move on. It has become a challenge to draw and maintain eyeballs on your show because the audiences have other options to choose from.”
